  26. Short           ScreenDance is a CD player that comes packed with a

  84. How To Install  1. From the DOS prompt, type the drive-letter and pathname
  85.                    to the ScreenDance self-extracting executable that you
  86.                    downloaded, then press ENTER.
  87.  
  88.                    For example, type C:\DOWNLOADS\SCRNDANC and press ENTER.
  89.  
  90.                    TIP: In Microsoft Windows 95 click the Start button and
  91.                    select Run... from the menu, then type the above
  92.                    command. In Windows 3.1 select File, then Run off the
  93.                    Program Manager menu, then type the above command.
  94.  
  95.                 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Screendance
  96.                    and configure your sound card. If you don't know what
  97.                    kind of sound card you have, select Sound Blaster and
  98.                    accept all the default settings.
  99.  
  100.                 Once you have installed ScreenDance, you may go back and
  101.                 re-run the install to change your sound card settings
  102.                 at any time without doing a complete re-install.
  103.  
  104.                 NOTE: If the installation aborts without any explanation,
  105.                 you may not have enough DOS memory available to run the 
  106.                 install program. Try to make at least 450K available.

  109. Starting        For maximum performance, ScreenDance runs as a 32-bit
  110. Screendance     extended DOS program, like today's hottest action games. On
  111.                 most systems it will run in a full-screen MS-DOS window
  112.                 under Windows 95 or Windows 3.1, but on others it runs best
  113.                 after shutting down Windows 95 or exiting Windows 3.1. Try
  114.                 the following instructions for your particular operating
  115.                 system; if you have trouble, try shutting down or exiting
  116.                 Windows and follow the instructions for running from
  117.                 MS-DOS.

  119.                 From MS-DOS:
  120.  
  121.                 1. Change to the hard drive where you installed
  122.                    ScreenDance.
  123.     
  124.                    For example, to change to the default installation
  125.                    drive, type C: and press ENTER.
  126.        
  127.                 2. Change to the directory where you installed 
  128.                    Screendance.
  129.        
  130.                    For example, to change to the default installation
  131.                    directory, type CD \DANCE and press ENTER.

  133.                 3. Type DANCE and press ENTER.

  135.                 From Windows 95:
  136.  
  137.                 1. If it's not already running, open Windows Explorer by
  138.                    clicking on the Start button and selecting Programs, 
  139.                    Windows Explorer from the menu.
  140.  
  141.                 2. Use the Windows Explorer to find the Dance application
  142.                    in the directory where you installed ScreenDance, and
  143.                    double click on it to run. Be sure to select the file 
  144.                    which is listed as type Application by Windows Explorer; 
  145.                    to see file types, select View, then Details off the 
  146.                    menu.

  148.                 Tip: To create a shortcut to ScreenDance, drag the Dance
  149.                 application from the Windows Explorer onto your desktop or
  150.                 to any open folder.

  152.                 From Windows 3.1:
  153.  
  154.                 1. If it's not already running, open the File Manager from
  155.                    the Main group on the Program Manager desktop.
  156.  
  157.                 2. Use the File Manager to find the DANCE.EXE file in the
  158.                    directory where you installed Screendance, and double
  159.                    click it to run.
  160.  
  161.                 To view the online documentation, either select Help, then
  162.                 Online Manual off the ScreenDance menu, or view the
  163.                 DANCE.TXT file.
  164.  
  165.  
  166. Windows 95      If you are running Windows 95 and are experiencing problems
  167. Compatibility   with the CD-ROM drive, you are most likely seeing a
  168.                 conflict between ScreenDance and the autoplay feature of
  169.                 the Win95 CD player. There are several solutions:
  170.                 
  171.                 a) hold down the shift key each time you insert a CD into
  172.                    the CDROM drive - this prevents the Win95 CD player
  173.                    from starting up.
  174.                 
  175.                 b) download TweakUI from Microsoft's web site at
  176.                    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/software/powertoy.htm.
  177.                    This nifty utility lets you easily disable/enable the
  178.                    audio CD autoplay feature. After installing it, see the
  179.                    settings on the "Paranoia" tab.
  180.                 
  181.                 c) disallow the Win95 CD player from automatically
  182.                    starting to play a newly inserted disc: from the Win95
  183.                    Explorer, select View, Options off the menu; click on
  184.                    the File Types tab and select the AudioCD file type.
  185.                    Click the Edit button, highlight the Play action, then
  186.                    click the Edit... button. Remove the /play option that
  187.                    appears after cdplayer.exe. You can replace the /play
  188.                    option at any time later by going back to this dialog.
  189.                 
  190.                 d) set up ScreenDance to run in MS-DOS mode by
  191.                    right-clicking the mouse on the the Dance application
  192.                    and selecting Properties. Select the Program tab, then
  193.                    click the Advanced button. Check off the MS-DOS Mode
  194.                    setting. If after doing this the mouse doesn't work in
  195.                    ScreenDance, you will need to set up a batch file to
  196.                    load the mouse driver before running.

  199. Sound Card      If your sound card fails to initialize, most likely your
  200. Problems        IRQ number is incorrectly set in the DANCE.INI file.
  201.                 Check your sound card documentation and system
  202.                 configuration, then either re-run SCRNDANCE.EXE and select
  203.                 Configure Sound Card, or edit the 'IRQ = ' entry in the
  204.                 [SOUND] section of DANCE.INI. IRQ 5 is the most common
  205.                 setting followed by IRQ 7. You may also need to check the
  206.                 Base address and DMA channel settings.
  207.

  209. Video Card      If ScreenDance aborts with an InitGraphics error, be sure
  210. Problems        you have a super-VGA display card capable of running in 640
  211.                 x 480 x 256 color mode, and which is VESA compatible. Check
  212.                 that the display card has at least 512K of video memory. If
  213.                 your card meets these requirements but still does not work,
  214.                 you may need to load a VESA driver before running
  215.                 ScreenDance. Check your display card documentation for
  216.                 instructions on loading a VESA driver.

  219. Mouse           If you are experiencing problems with your mouse, use
  220. Not Found       Ctrl-X to exit ScreenDance, then check that you have a
  221.                 mouse driver loaded before running the program. You can
  222.                 usually load the mouse driver by typing MOUSE and pressing
  223.                 ENTER at the DOS command line.
